Government 101: Fort Drum Learns Local Governance from Community Leaders

The 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division met with City Manager Mary Corriveau, Mayor Jeff Graham and other City officials gaining insight about city infrastructure.

The day began with a five mile run beginning at Thompson Park early Wednesday morning, continuing throughout the day with tours throughout the city.

Government 101 is a new program that Fort Drum has established to learn from local officials about what it takes to run a community efficiently.

“Really it’s learning from experts,” Col. Patrick D. Frank, Commander of the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, said Wednesday.

Throughout the afternoon the 3rd Brigade Combat team will tour city facilities, learning about such items as water, waste water, and hydroelectric power. Other locations will include a local farm and City Offices.

10th Mountain Division soldiers will be utilizing the information that they learn from City officials during their deployment to Afghanistan.
